Year 12 Homeworks and Comments

Hello all,

Just a quick update.
1) - well done on completing the first Controlled Assessment so well.
2) Your next one is to complete a piece of descriptive writing, as if you were a character in a scene from a film. This will take place in your double lesson on WEDS. However - there may be a problem with the school being shut for strike action - this hasn't been decided yet - if the school is shut, we'lkl just have to do it in the next lesson.

So - you need to prepare for this task and be ready by Wednesday. You need to:
- decide on the scene you want to use and watch it a few times
- decide which character you want to be
- create which tells you what you will write about and in what order
- Read the model answer carefully (provided in class) and annotate it for strengths and weaknesses
- Use the videos in the English section of www.youtube.com/cherwellonline to learn and improve your performance on the target areas from your first piece of writing.

A quick reminder that you will be doing your Controlled Assessment periods 4 and 5 tomorrow. HOWEVER, if you are doing a November resit, it will make more sense for you to do a Paper 1 Practice, so expect to do this instead.

You should then come up with a detailed plan as to the content of your writing, remembering to choose one of the questions we looked at in class, either:

- Write about someone who is important to you.
or
- 'The Day that Changed Me' - Write about an important day in your life.

Hi Year 12 Resitters!
OK, the time has come to prepare your first controlled assessment. We looked at the titles in class, and your job is to plan your response. Homework for ALL groups

Watch this video, which will take you through what you are going to have to do in the exam. Take notes on the key points, and come to me with any questions that you may have. I will run a short memory test in the lesson, to check your learning.

TAKE CARE THOUGH! In this video, the teacher talks about the exam being in January. For Cherwell students, you will do a MOCK EXAM IN NOVEMBER, and then your ACTUAL exam in JUNE, not JANUARY!
